MARKETS

WONDERFUL ALL YEAR ROUND.

Browse, taste and enjoy.

The small weekly market on Tuesday, the large Friday market, the Merano market on Saturday: each week there are numerous markets that enrich the shopping opportunities in Merano. Farmers' markets, flower markets, flea markets and gourmet markets round off the offering.

HAFLINGER HORSE RACE

THE EVENT HIGHLIGHT ON EASTER MONDAY.

Large parade and exciting competition.

The event has remained true to its tradition since 1896. In the morning, a festive procession with music bands, floats and horses with their riders in traditional costumes moves from the centre of Merano to the racecourse. The sporting competitions follow in the afternoon.

THE INTERNATIONAL STREET ART FESTIVAL AT THE BEGINNING OF JUNE.

Merano is turned upside down for a weekend.

Clowns, acrobats, dancers, magicians, fire-eaters, jugglers and pantomimes from all over the world delight visitors with their skills in the streets and squares of Merano city centre. All visitors both big and small are swept away by the colourful hustle and bustle.

THE POPULAR EVENT SERIES IN SUMMER.

Shop, stroll and enjoy for longer.

Every Tuesday from July to mid-August, a whole host of shops, restaurants and bars keep their doors open until late in the evening. Live music, entertainment, market stalls and culinary delights await on every corner in the old town.

SÜDTIROL FESTIVAL MERANO

MERANO MUSIC WEEKS IN LATE SUMMER.

A feast for the ears at the Kurhaus.

From mid-August to mid-September, the elite of classical music are welcomed to the magnificent Kursaal. The symphonic programme with world-famous orchestras, conductors and soloists is joined by chamber music concerts, a crossover series and performances by vocal ensembles.

GRAPE FESTIVAL

THE HARVEST FESTIVAL ON THE THIRD WEEKEND IN OCTOBER.

One of the most traditional events in Merano.

The Merano Grape Festival is the oldest harvest festival in South Tyrol. During the traditional parade on Sunday morning, the famous giant grape and apple crown as well as other floats roll through the streets of the old town - accompanied by bands and traditional costume groups from far and wide.

MERANO WINEFESTIVAL

THE MEETING OF THE WINE SCENE AT THE BEGINNING OF NOVEMBER.

Clear the stage for the best wines in the world.

Experts, winegrowers and connoisseurs meet at the Merano Kurhaus in November to taste and evaluate wines as well as spirits and delicacies from all over the world, for an entire weekend. The supporting programme includes lectures, guided tours and award ceremonies.

CHRISTMAS MARKET

THE VISITOR MAGNET FROM THE END OF NOVEMBER TO EPIPHONY.

Ten minutes' walk from the Hotel Kolping.

The Christmas market is by far one of the most magical events in Merano. The spa promenade is just a short walk from the hotel and you will find rows of colourfully decorated wooden huts and all kinds of delicious treats on offer.
